“Okay, I’m ready. Tell me everything, and don’t miss any juicy details.”
I couldn’t believe she’d missed a workout, either. Lolita and I had been meeting at our gym every Tuesday for three years, and that was the first time she’d missed a session. Lolita’s daughter must have been really sick for Lolly to stay home, especially after I’d hinted at my wild romp more than a week ago.
Matt, the waiter, had his usual dour expression as he strolled toward us. “What would you like?” he said in his uninterested drawl.
“Green tea.” Lolly ordered the same thing every Tuesday. Matt need not have asked.
“I’ll have a skinny cappuccino and a lemon cupcake, please.”
As Matt shuffled away, Lolita shot me her customary disappointed glare at my choice of treat. Everything so far had been typical of our Tuesday morning routine.
“Details, babe; come on before I implode.” Lolly leaned forward on her elbows, and her brilliant blue eyes pierced me with their intensity. “You’ve been acting weird all morning. The suspense is killing me.”
“I haven’t been acting weird.”
“Yeah. . . you have. You’re grinning like a woman on a drug-induced high.”
I tried to stop smiling as I debated which steamy romp to tell her about first. I hadn’t planned to tell her about my last one, which took me so far from my comfort zone that it was a wonder I wasn’t in a straightjacket. But keeping that from her would be impossible. Lolita was a predator when it came to sniffing out the truth.
I decided to settle her curiosity with the sexy encounter that was more mainstream. The other one can wait until I finished my cupcake. Hopefully a sugar rush will have kicked in by then.
“Come on, babe, stop holding out on me.” She tapped her long red nails on the table.
I let out a deep breath. “It happened after my shift.”
“Did you finally have s*x?”
I cocked my head. “Will you let me talk!”
“Sorry.” She flicked her long blonde ponytail over her shoulder. “Carry on.”
“He was tall, dark, and handsome—I know it’s cliché, but it’s true. And smart; he’s a computer technician. He had really nice hands and seemed gentle. That’s what appealed to me.”
The waiter arrived with impeccable timing and placed our drinks and my cupcake on the table. Lolita showed her frustration by tapping her long pink fingernails on the table, and I chuckled at her. She was so damn impatient I wouldn’t be surprised if she booted Matt out of the way.
She lived for gossip like this, although I trusted her not to tell anyone about my dirty little secret. Except for her husband, of course—she’d told me many times that she and Calvin talked about everything.
The second the waiter left, she clutched my wrist. “You’re killing me. Tell me before I explode.” She released her grip, and as she pinned her stunning blue eyes on me, she picked up her green tea.
I stirred my coffee, trying to work out where to start. “So, I wasn’t going to do it—”
“Have s*x, you mean?” She nodded.
I rolled my eyes. “Right. I hadn’t intended on having s*x. This time, I decided not to go to this man right after my shift as I normally do, so I went to him in the afternoon. Something about that time of day, something about him . . .” I shrugged. “I don’t know . . . it was just right.”
“Good on you, babe. It’s about time. So, did he blow
